Undav’s strike secures a point for Stuttgart against Heidenheim

In a thrilling Bundesliga match on Sunday, Deniz Undav’s eighth-minute stoppage-time goal earned Stuttgart a point against Heidenheim in a 3-3 draw. The game saw late drama, with Tim Kleindienst scoring two goals in two minutes for Heidenheim before Undav’s late equalizer. Despite goals from Serhou Guirassy and Angelo Stiller giving Stuttgart a lead, a mistake by goalkeeper Alex Nuebel allowed Heidenheim back into the game.

Kleindienst capitalized on defensive errors to score twice late in the game, putting Heidenheim in front. However, their hopes were dashed when Nikola Dovedan received a red card in added time. Undav’s last-minute strike salvaged a draw for Stuttgart.

Both Mittelstaedt and Stiller expressed disappointment with the result, emphasizing the need for improvement. Despite missing a chance to close the gap with Bayern Munich, Stuttgart remains in a strong position in the league standings. Coach Sebastian Hoeness lamented his team’s loss of focus after taking a two-goal lead.

In another match, Darmstadt came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bochum, but their relegation seems imminent. Augsburg drew 1-1 with Cologne, maintaining their European football aspirations.- AFP
