Concerns about a One-month Family Visit Visa are Raised by Expats

Thirty visitors can schedule appointments with the residency affairs departments in each of Kuwait’s six governorates per hour thanks to the “Meta” website/app. Due to lower population densities than in other places, the residency affairs departments in the governorates of Al-Jahra and Mubarak Al-Kabeer saw lower turnout than those in Farwaniya and Hawally. Many foreigners surveyed by Al Anba daily conveyed their feelings, stating that they felt “one month is not enough,” and that they hoped the Kuwaiti government would extend the family visit visa period to three months.
They contend that bringing their spouses means paying for airfare and hiring an apartment, so a month doesn’t seem long enough.

In the meanwhile, a MOI source guaranteed foreign nationals that their visitation permits will remain valid. Initiatives by the government are meant to increase business activity in the nation without adding to the load on necessities like healthcare. The foreigners bemoaned the fact that their family’s home destinations aren’t served by the national airline. They suggested a solution in which visitors would only be allowed entry into Kuwait if they could produce tickets that were purchased from the state airline.
