Court releases 2 vote-buyers on bail

The Public Prosecution has decided to release two citizens on bail, one for KD 500 and the other for KD 1,000, after they were apprehended for buying votes during the election day, one for a candidate in the Third Constituency and the other for a current MP in the Fifth Constituency. The Public Prosecution conducted an investigation into the vote-buying case and presented evidence of the defendants’ involvement in these crimes. Informed sources revealed that the prosecution, along with the two defendants, faced charges under Article 44 of Law No. 35/1962 concerning elections for members of the National Assembly and its amendments. Those who accepted money in exchange for voting for a specific candidate are being summoned. All the accused were confronted with seized items relevant to the investigation, including money, citizenship documents, phone messages obtained from seized phones, electoral statements, and bank transaction documents for financial transfers between the parties involved in the incident.
