Foreigner sentenced to jail and deportation for forging disability certificates

In a case involving falsified disability certificates, the Criminal Court sentenced two foreign employees of the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs (PADA) to seven years in prison followed by deportation. Thirteen other defendants received two-year prison sentences, while 35 defendants were not punished and fined KD 500 each. Lawyer Abdulaziz Arab stated that most of the accused acted in good faith, suggesting that PADA’s complaint aimed to bolster its position. He noted the ruling is not final, with efforts underway to amend it before the Court of Appeals. Arab emphasized the importance of unified defense when appealing, asserting the absence of criminal intent. He also highlighted PADA’s unjust reduction of disabilities and emphasized that this ruling should prevent further deprivation of rights for the disabled.
