Huawei Pocket 2 Confirmed to Launch on February 22

The Huawei Pocket 2 will soon be available in China. The foldable smartphone’s launch date was disclosed by the company, but not much else was disclosed. The device is anticipated to replace the November 2022 Chinese launch of the Huawei Pocket S. It is anticipated that the next flip-foldable phone will arrive with improvements over the previous model. The Huawei Pocket 2’s color options and finishes have been hinted at in some recent design leaks.

Huawei has officially announced that the Huawei Pocket 2 will launch on February 22 at 2:30 pm local time (12 pm IST) in a Weibo post. Although the teaser does not explicitly reveal the phone’s design, it does allude to two circular modules that resemble.

The rear panel design hint matches previous leaks. It is anticipated that the Huawei Pocket 2 will be available in black, purple, and white color options—the latter of which has a pattern resembling marble. In the meantime, the purple version with the imitation leather finish was spotted. The phone is anticipated to have a larger battery than the previous model, a Kirin 9000s SoC, and triple rear camera units.

The Huawei Pocket S is notable for having an outer 1.04-inch circular OLED display and a 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED primary screen. It has a 4,000mAh battery that supports 40W wired charging, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G SoC, and HarmonyOS 3 preinstalled. The smartphone has a 40-megapixel primary sensor and a 13-megapixel sensor with an ultrawide angle lens on its dual rear camera, and a 10.7-megapixel sensor on its front camera.

Initially available in Frost Silver, Ice Crystal Blue, Mint Green, Obsidian Black, Primrose Gold, and Sakura Pink colorways, the Huawei Pocket S cost CNY 5,988 (approximately Rs. 67,900) when it was first released in China. The 8GB + 256GB and 8GB + 512GB versions of the clamshell foldable model were also released; they were priced at CNY 6,488 (about Rs. 73,600) and CNY 7,488 (about Rs. 84,900), respectively.
