Kuwait crackdown catches expat violators in Bneid Al-Gar

Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, visited a shelter for residence and labor law violators (Article 20) on Tuesday. He checked the security and living conditions, emphasizing comfort and essential supplies for residents. He praised the efforts in preparing the center, which aims to expedite departure procedures for the violators.

Recently, an intensive security campaign in Bneid Al-Gar led to the arrest of several expatriates violating the Domestic Labor Law. They were sent to the labor shelter for deportation. The Ministry of Interior stated these expatriates were arrested in bachelor accommodations and are being treated humanely at the shelter. Sponsors of these workers will have their files blocked, as violating Residency and Domestic Labor laws results in deportation, even with valid permits.

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousuf extended the deadline for violators to legalize their status or leave the country to June 30 due to Eid Al-Adha holidays and high demand. This extension aims to help more violators benefit from the grace period.

In other news, the Kuwaiti Municipality closed four basements in Hawally Governorate and issued 43 warnings as part of a campaign against malpractices. They warned against dumping old furniture and other items outside buildings, with fines for violators.
