Prison Security Foils Innovative Drone Smuggling Operation Involving Narcotics and Phones

Security personnel at Central Prison successfully intercepted a novel smuggling attempt involving a drone in the early hours of the morning. The drone was carrying a significant quantity of narcotics and mobile phones.

A security source revealed that rigorous measures had been implemented to prevent smuggling, including surprise inspections of prison wards, daily checks on visitors, employees, and cleaners, and enhanced security barriers with thorough inspections for all entering the complex. Drug dealers were moved to Prison 3, where additional security measures, such as jamming systems to disrupt phone networks, were installed. Despite these precautions, smugglers attempted to use a drone to deliver narcotics and phones. The drone dropped its cargo, which included hashish, crystal meth, chemicals, and phones, but security personnel quickly confiscated it.

Investigations disclosed that three drones were used in the operation: one for surveillance to ensure no security personnel were present, a second for the actual delivery of the contraband, and a third to monitor and confirm the delivery. Inmates were also instructed to create disturbances to distract the security staff while others tried to retrieve the smuggled items. The prison administration promptly notified the General Department for Combating Drugs to identify and apprehend those responsible for the drone operation.

The source highlighted that the General Department of Correctional Institutions remains vigilant around the clock to ensure the safety of inmates, maintain order, and prevent contraband. The source further explained that measures such as surprise raids, rotating security duties, relocating drug dealers, and tightening inspection protocols have significantly reduced contraband within the facility. However, drug dealers have attempted to use drones to smuggle items into the prison from nearby areas at dawn. These attempts have so far been unsuccessful due to the alertness of the prison security staff.
