Environmental Violations: 130 Prosecutors, 28 Deportees

The Ministry of Interior’s Environmental Police Department Director, Brigadier General Dr. Hussein Al-Ajmi, revealed that 28 people were deported after 130 people were tried for breaking environmental laws in the previous year. This information was revealed at a training session called “Protecting Natural Reserves by Environmental Laws,” which the Environmental Police and the General Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries jointly arranged.

Under the direction of Colonel Saud Al-Otaibi, the training program addressed tactics for dealing with criminals within natural reserves as well as fundamental legal information for reserve workers and security officers. Acting Director General of the Authority Nasser Taqi urged residents and foreigners to have a greater awareness of environmental issues and praised the Environmental Police for their work protecting natural areas.
