The Civil Commercial Court recently ruled that a Kuwaiti woman can receive a document confirming her ownership of the marital home without her ex-husband’s signature, as per Al-Anba daily. Attorney Alaa Al-Saeedi represented the woman, who built the home in 2012 but was divorced by her husband in 2016, who refused to hand over the house.

Al-Saeedi presented electricity receipts and other documents proving her client’s investment in the house’s construction, supported by expert management reports. The lawyer called for amendments to the Housing Law to ensure fair treatment of citizens and simplified court procedures. She argued that the state’s housing support for families should prioritize the wife’s custodial rights after divorce.
