Ten Years in Prison for an Officer Who Shoots a “Colleague”

The Court of Cassation confirmed the decision made by a lower court that had ordered the discharge of a Ministry of Interior corporal and given him a ten-year prison sentence for shooting his coworker at the Nuwaiseeb Port after a dispute at work. The victim and the accused got into a verbal fight at work, according to the case file, during which the accused pulled out a revolver and shot the victim, injuring him. For treatment, the victim was then brought to a hospital. The Criminal Court had previously ruled that the accused would serve ten years in prison with hard labor and that he would be fired from his position upon serving the sentence.
